CHSWG: Your questions answered

Who are we?
Pronounced “Chiswig”, Salford’s Childrens’ Hearing Services Working Group is a group of representatives from health, social care, education, local voluntary sector and most importantly, hearing impaired teenagers and parents of hearing impaired children.

What is our aim?
As laid out in our Mission Statement:
“The CHSWG is a group of parents/carers, young people and professionals working towards improving and developing hearing services for all children and young people in Salford.”

How does the CHSWG work?
We meet up 3 times a year, either in an evening or
during the day time to discuss areas for improvement. We liaise with each other
by email or telephone and occasionally smaller groups get together in between.

Who can join?
Parents, professionals, in fact anyone with an interest in making a difference to the lives of hearing impaired children.

How can you help?
We are a family-friendly group and need parents in particular to attend the meetings to have their say about what happens with their children.

How will I know when the meetings are?
Members will be notified by their preferred contact method, be it home telephone, mobile telephone, email or letter.

What if I’d like to attend a meeting but can’t?
If transport and / or childcare is a problem, then let us know and we will do our best to help.If time constraints are a problem, you can let us know your thoughts and ideas by
giving us a ring or emailing us.

What will I have to do?
In the first instance, simply come along and listen!
This is an opportunity for parents to ‘have a voice’ and if there’s something you’d like to get involved with, then you can do so! Do as little or as much as you feel you can. Please Click Here for the latest CHSWG letter to parents.
